Firstly I'm no tight coont when it comes to going out but yesterday, after the football me and a few m8's went for a few.

Now I try to stick to one or two of the same drinks kinda helps with the bad head.

First pub £5:50 San Miguel

Second pub £4:50

3rd pub (get this) £7:50

Now I'm no tight arse but that is taking the urine.

Then theres a pub small run down job selling it for £3:95 so from the dearest that's a £3:55 difference

Put that on a round of 4 I paid £14:20 more than another guy.

I went Liverpool few months back me and 2 m8's and I paid £27 for 3 Peroni draught and it was dog piss shit.

It's getting to the point were an Uber nasty kebab and a few pints is £70

I did £70 last night so imagine you did that twice a week. Then I look back to when I was a young lad out 4-5 nights a week today's prices against wages you'd be living in a cardboard box eating out of food banks.

No wonder pubs are closing left right and centre. My local which was always full 4 nights a week sadly closed and is been turned into a convenance store although there's a mini spar mini Tesco and 3 corner shops all within 800 yards of each other.

But my rant is why such huge mark ups ?. My m8's son came along for an hour but he only drinks water. We ordered a tap water they tried to charge £1 for a glass till we argued.

Sad times

It's just getting beyond the joke now. Me and the missus did a bog standard last curry other week nothing to right home about few sides, 2 wines 2 beers fookin  80 quid'ish !, I nearly shit me keks when the bill came and I'm not been funny but I could have made better myself at home.

Missus keeps saying we don't do enough together and that's exactly why, we can't afford to. Everything we try to do cost bucket loads unless you spot 2 for 1 deals. Socialising is a thing of the past

I walked out of a pub the other week after finding they were trying to charge 8 quid for a pint.

I then got told they were charging 5 quid for a half pint glass of rola cola.

So me and Mrs Ringers and another couple went out Sunday for a few.

Both women were on pink gin & lemonade so my round, orders drinks in a v.busy pub, the guy shifts to the side part of the bar out of view, gets the drinks, pays, sits down, that's it.

Both women says "Can you taste gin?" they couldn't taste it. Now pink gin "should" have a very slight pinkish colour in the glass this was near perfect clear.

I tasted it to me it was a like lemonade with a very very slight taste of gin.

These were about £12-£13 for the pair. So I goes back bar with them to the head bar guy. Before I could explain it he just took both glasses out my hand and put a shot of gin in both as if he knew what I was gonna say.

but,

When I took these drinks back to the bar we'd had sat round the corner of the bar were the first guy originally went to pour the drinks out of my view.

He then went round to the front of the bar were I bought them from and put 2 shots in from there. So why didn't he pour them from the front of the bar first time round ??.

Fookin strange

It was like they had a shit gin or short measure out of view, honestly. After he added a shot it was fine.

Could it be they had:

Shit gin round the back

Good gin round the front ?

I remember in the 80s a bar that use to stand glasses upside down on a tray with kitchen roll soaked in JD  gin etc so when they shot the mixer in you get a hit off the side of the glass.

Now I'm definitely not saying that was the case but something was not right.

Report them to trading standards

Trading Standards:

If the bar refuses a top-up or you are uncomfortable, report the issue to your local Trading Standards office. They are responsible for enforcing weights and measures regulations.

I see your point but he never refused to top it up and it would be nigh impossible for me to prove anything dodgy. I just know it was either a short measure or in the first glass he used piss arse cheap n nasty gin, hence he went round the other side when I first ordered.

Everything's costing a fortune these days and all's we expect is what we pay for. Couple this with shit expensive takeaway food it's no wonder pubs and takeaways are shutting down all the time.

I got a pint of Estrella and omg it was like dog slash and 9 times out of 10 I can drink most lagers.

Wtf is going on?, why is the quality going down while the prices just keep going up ?. Even Mrs Ringers said it's like everyone is trying to pull the wool

Isn't that the point? You only wanted and expected what you paid for. Just tip them off with your version of events and let them decide if they are sending in a secret boozer to run the same scenario, or they just check what they are selling is legit and not watered down anti freeze 🤔
